Illustration Friday: Sea
She sells
sea shells
on the
sea shore.
This tongue twister I remember from way back when I was young (Wait a sec, I'm still young! Correction: Younger! ) seemed a perfect subject to illustrate for this week's topic. (When my mom first recited it for us, me and sis spent atleast an hour trying to say it fast enough without getting the pronunciations mixed up).
The only other tongue twister I remember from back then is,
Betty bought some butter,
the butter was bitter.
So Betty bought some more butter,
to make the bitter butter better.
:D
Do you know any similar tongue twisters?

How do you create these? Do you use Illustrator? They are great! I am a graphic artist and use illustrator every day but not for things like this. I mainly use them to create ads.

Great,very beautiful.
pretty pretty picture... I think she has real shells in there :)...lucky girl
Hey Ratlion, good illo! It is rather nostalgic.
I say 'great mind think alike'. Wonderful illustration. I can almost feel the breeze.
hi! you did a beautiful job here. I like the way you combined your painting with the basket of real shells. In the first frame that wave looks like it is pretty large but she does not seem afraid. I like this so much!!!
peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers!
Great work with imagery and text. I really like the two different versions here.
That's a beautiful girl in a pretty pose, I like it.
I'm not too good at the old tongue twisters in the morning. I really love this illo. Cheers!
Pinky: Hello Nina and thank you :) This was primarily done in Adobe Photoshop...I'm hoping to get my hands on Illustrator pretty soon :)
Marc: thank you :)
Rotten tuna: Yup, those are real shells in there..did'nt have the heart to give her mis-shapen shells to sell :)
Queen tut:Thank you, thank you...It's nostalgic? really? (Wow! The things i manage to do without even trying! :D)
Idiothead: Amen@ great minds...and thank you :)
Valgalart: Thank you! And I don't know how I missed Peter Piper's Pickled Pepper's! It certainly rings a bell! :D
Alexa, Steve, Constantthing and Holly: thank you all so much!
Guys, your feedback and the fact that you liked my illo, really makes my day :) Thank you!
Cheers!
lovely illustration!
Very nice. I like the composition in the horizontal version.
Oh, and the only twister I can think of offhand is:
Rubber baby buggy bumpers.
This has a great "snapshot" quality...beautiful colors that capture the bright light of the tropical beach. The tongue twister that comes to mind is one that we used as a prank get another kid to say a "bad" word: I shined my city shoes. It was a winner every time:>
Very nice! oh....how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood....
Awesome paintings...and also u write well...Hmm even i like to do sketching and painting but nothing compared to yours....I'll bookmark ur blog..take care..keep blogging...
This is very nice looking... draws you in. But I've always wondered why she sells at teh seashore -seems like you can find 'em for free there. :-) But I guess "She sell sea shells at a tourist trap" isn't much of a twister.
Beautiful - I love the wistful look on her face. Nice colors too!
good one cuz! this one has character;) liked the eyes, they speak. though i am not very sure wht they say:)
